"Volstead" Corkscrews
This corkscrew figure is commonly referred to as "Volstead" The earliest "Volstead" reference I can find is in a former corkscrew addict's 1979 Best 6 corkscrews in which he pictured several examples. The figure is subsequently shown in the corkscrew books of Perry (1980), Watney & Babbidge (1981), and Bull (1981) as "Volstead." Old Codger shows up in the Best 6 of Brother Tim (1982) and Andrew (1986). Addict Squair shows a Demley in his 1985 Best 6. Many auction catalogs, newsletters, and journal articles have called the figure Volstead. Is it?
