Fire on the Mountain
There is a mountain across the water from the office of The Weekly Screw. On the mountain is a tower which houses the equipment for the Weekly's wireless Internet Service Provider. This past week there was a fire on the mountain. The tower was in the middle of the fire. The Weekly staff didn't like using slow dial-up access! Uploads and downloads crawled. But what was one to do? In time the fire was contained and after a short waiting period, the crew was able to go in and do repairs to the equipment. The Weekly was back in business!

Murder in Brooklyn
February 13, 2008 .... The body of a Brooklyn man who had been stabbed in the side of the head with a corkscrew was discovered by relatives in his Prospect Heights apartment on Wednesday, the police said on Thursday. The 55 year old man was declared dead at the scene. He was found lying face up on the bedroom floor of his apartment , the police said.
Investigators said the victims relatives became concerned when his employer called to say that he had not shown up for work. The police declined to identify the employer, and it was unclear last night how long the victim had been absent, or when the attack took place.
The corkscrew that was used to stab him in his temple was recovered at the scene.
The police said on Thursday that there had been no arrests, and that the case was under investigation.
This is not the first crime committed with a corkscrew. See these stories in previous editions of The Weekly Screw:
