Blackpool

Blackpool, England - Perhaps the most well known of Blackpool's sites is the Tower which dominates the landscape of this seaside resort. The tower was opened to tourist on this date in 1894.

The tower is 518 feet high and weights 2,943 tons. For its 100th birthday it was painted gold with 2.9 tons of paint.

In addition to the tower and the beach, the seaside pleasure seeker will find a zoo, a waxworks, a toy musuem, and a couple of casinos in Blackpool.
