Joe and Jackie Young (jandjyoung@earthlink.net) found this hinged leather case with red velour lining. It is very well made, with a sturdy hinge and locking mechanism. Total weight is 12 oz. The name on the case is T. R. LEONARD.
Allegedly Leonard was an officer during the civil war, presumably with the North. With a little more digging, Joe and Jackie hope to verify that.
The scales on the 3 pieces are ivory, the folding spoon and fork are hallmarked.
The hallmark is W. H. & S. B. P.
