Apollo Depose

Joseph: I happened upon a opener/waiter's friend that is a Ricard ad piece. It is marked APOLLO DEPOSE and has a notch on the bottle opener part to facilitate the drawing of the cork. I have never one with that little notch. Any info?

Ron: Your corkscrew is an early 20th century waiters style nickel plated steel corkscrew fitted with a wire breaker, wire helix and a most unusual hinged crown cap lifter that doubles as a Wienke type neckstand.

The opener is used in the in line position to open crown caps and moved to one side to the bottle neck to help pull a cork. This design was registered in France but is not illustrated in any publication on corkscrews.
