Searching Bangkok Continues
Reported by Correspondent Alf Erickson
Bangkok, Thailand - My hunt for the James Quality Jewellers and the cheesy bar set reported in yesterday's edition met only dead ends. My assistant and I ventured out again to track down another lead from Don Bull:
Alf, check out this one: C. H. Jewelry Factory, 45/11-12 New Petchburi Rd. Opp. Olympia Hotel, Tel. 916948. It was this label inside another bar set:
Eleven Sky Train stops and one transfer from our home station (Saphan Taksin) we got off the train at Thong Lo and took a taxi to the Olympia Hotel.
The Olympia has apparently fallen on hard times: it has a deep and dreary 'curtain' feel about the place. The office, guarded by a fierce dog, is bare save for a desk covered with a colorful spread of room keys.
No tenants were in sight. The woman manager told us that what once might have been C. H. Jewelry is now a club of sorts that promises 'dreams'.
Telephone calls and the interrogation of taxi motorcycle drivers proved unfruitful.
John(n)y's Gem Building (Another 'lead' from Don for the Siam corkscrew) no longer goes by that name. In fact the building may no longer even be in Bangkok.
Hey you readers of The Daily Screw - Got another lead for us? Do you have one of these bar sets? Perhaps with a different company name / address on the label? Let us know and we'll try to track it down. Who knows - maybe we'll uncover a whole warehouse full of these things!
