Buffalo, New York, October 25, 1967 - Yesterday Joseph Amigone was issued United States Design Patent Number 209,001 for his "Combination Tool." Amigone previously received patents for his "Gripper Type Cork Extractor" in 1951 and 1954. The 1967 patent is the first to include a corkscrew.

Advertising for the "AMI" reads "Ami open-all and champagne cork extractor. Perfect for cocktails and dining. Smart and handy for a host of uses." The tool is marked AMI OPEN-ALL, PAT. 163,785, BUFFALO 14, N.Y. (1954 patent). Although the AMI with corkscrew is marked the same, it is the 1967 patent.
