Finding Collins
Concord, New Hampshire - The staff of The Daily Screw is in New Hampshire for a few days. We have a Clough wire type corkscrew with sheath marked "Compliments of J. M. Collins, No. 1 Odd Fellows Ave., Concord, N. H."
While in the area, we thought we'd take a little time to learn more about Collins. We found that the building at No. 1 Odd Fellows Avenue is a three story office and retail building of approximately 10,000 square feet. It was built in 1880. It is currently owned by Legal Land Company Ltd., 99 Fisherville Road, Concord, N. H. No one knows anything about J. M. Collins.
Finding Avery
Concord, New Hampshire - After our failed attempt to learn more about J. M. Collins, we decided to find out more about William H. Avery. His name appears with "Musical Instruments, 18 Pleasant St., Concord, N. H." on a combination cocktail spoon, cap lifter, and corkscrew from B & B, St. Paul, Minnesota.
We found that the building 18 Pleasant Street is a 1400 square foot two story office and retail building. It was also built in 1880. It is owned by Snaphuance Real Estate Trust, Arthur W. Aznive, Trustee. Like J. M. Collins, Wiliiam H. Avery has been forgotten.
