The F. W. Jordan Company in Solingen, Germany produced this advertising corkscrew / knife in the shape of a Maggi bottle. The advertising on the front of the bottle is "Für jeden tisch, Maggi's Würze, altbewährt" and on the other side "Für Jede Küche, zum verbessern schwacher suppen und speisen." Jordan was founded in Solingen in 1867 and the name was registered in 1898.

Julius Michael Johannes Maggi was born in Switzerland October 9, 1846. He was the son of a Swiss and an Italian immigrant. He studied in Basel and as a young man moved to Budapest where he worked in a mill and was eventually transferred to a Swiss branch where he began his curiosity of nutrition. When he met a man named Schuler, they experimented with vegetable oils. By 1886 they introduced Maggi soups and in the same year the legendary Maggi spice was launched. Within a year distribution agencies were spread throughout Europe and the United States. The yellow and red colors of the unusual bottle shape and the star logo become well known. In 1947 the Maggi firm merged with Nestlé companies. Today the company produces a wide range of products under the Maggi label
